Looking for some advice how to improve this deck
Looking for advice how to improve this deck
I know snapcasters are great and all, but are you just playing them for two syncopates and four charms?
Also, I might switch out the fencing aces for Kraken Hatchlings for early defense (or at least be ready to sideboard it depending on the matchup).
Also, with 4 o-rings, 2 arrests, and 2 detention spheres, you might want to look at sphere of safety. At the very least it is a great sideboard card against tokens, where your opponent will have to pay at a minimum 1 for every attacker.
A dash of mana ramp would be nice (arbor elf or avacyn's pilgrim, and a couple farseek for mana fixing). The only thing better than a turn-three Loxodon Smiter is a turn-two Loxodon Smiter.
Also, maybe throw in a couple of Rancors...The only thing better than a turn-two Loxodon Smiter is when he's a 6/4 trample on turn three.
This deck is all over town... Midrange, Control, Aggro... What's the goal?
Entreat is in a bad spot at the moment with Detention Sphere, Mizzium Mortars and Sever the Bloodline showing up en masse and I don't recommend relying on it to win. That said, you'll need to commit to Control or Midrange Bant.
Control relies on Farseek, Jace, Terminus and Thragtusk to hold off Aggro until Angel of Serenity can come down and own the show.
Midrange relies on more creatures and less sweepers but Thragtusk/Resto is still the main plan.
So! What is the goal of the deck? FNM? Casual with friends? Taking it to PTQs?
Also, what's your budget for the deck and what other cards do you have to lend to one of the two strategies above?
This is a FNM deck my goal is to have a good control deck and my budget is decent but not looking to spend a fortune I do have 2 Angel of Serenity and a total of 4 Tamiyo's also something that might lend to strategy could be supreme verdict I have a full playset but from there I am not really sure what could be good to add in.
So, let's get to work :)
Creatures:
4x Centaur Healer
2x Restoration Angel
2x Angel of Serenity
2x Sigarda, Host of Herons
While there really should be 3-4 Thragtusk in there, he's not budget friendly. The line up is OK for control and does exactly what you need: stall until you can drop AoS or Sigarda.
Control:
4x Supreme Verdict
2x Detention Sphere
2x Oblivion Ring
4x Azorius Charm
2x Selesnya Charm
2x Syncopate
Terminus is strictly better only because it doesn't trigger Undying or Blood Artist and doesn't help opposing AoS. So that should be a card to hunt down along with a third D. Sphere.
Card Advantage:
2x Sphinx's Revelation
4x Farseek
2x Garruk, Primal Hunter
1x Think Twice
While Jace is the best card advantage in Standard, he's also one of the most expensive cards at the moment so I've filled his 3 slots with extra Azorius Charms and the lone Think Twice. Revelation is a house, especially if you get hit by a Rakdos Return and many decks can't fight against one that resolves for 4 or more. Garruk is great for the Control match up as his beasts get the job done and vs. Aggro he can draw you a ton of cards the turn he comes down (don't be shy to crack him for cards the turn he comes down).
Lands:
x25
Focus on Glacial Fortresses, Hinterland Harbors, and Sunpetal Groves. Shocks aren't necessarily auto 4's as you can pull a couple with some Farseeks and be in great shape.
That should be a vast improvement. I believe my suggestions should add up to less than $25 which would be a couple of Tamiyo's worth in trades. Totally doable! :)
Just practice lots and you'll do great at FNM! :D
Thanks alot for the help I will build it and give it a shot
Modified it with what I had to work with I would like to add Jace but not budget friendly so I put Tamiyo in his place for the time being. I haven't had a chance to playtest these changes but I hope these changes work out.
