
Welcome to the coverage of Swiss Nationals 2009
Swiss Nationals are currently taking place in Bern from 18. Juli to 19. Juli and some of the best pro players in the game such as Manuel Bucher and Nico Bohny are battling for the national champion title.
This tournament is of great significance because it is the first premier event where M2010 is legal and also where the rules changes are in effect. If you are looking for the latest Standard decktech or the best booster draft strategies, you should not miss out on this!
The best Swiss players fight for a spot on the National Team.
On Saturday we will play 3 rounds of Standard, followed by 3 rounds of booster draft and then another draft and one match for said draft. On Sunday there will be 2 more draft rounds with the decks from the previous draft and 3 rounds of Standard before the cut to the final top 8. The top 4 players will form the Swiss national team 2009 and get invitations to the world championship in Rome.

of the first draft, we are featuring two of the remaining undefeated
players,
Yves Sele and Daniel Opplinger. Both already enjoyed some success in
the past at Swiss Nationals, with Daniel being a former National
Champion, while Yves was twice a memeber of the
Swiss National team and has currently 23 lifetime pro points.

in the feature match area against

Christian Fehr (5cc) - Sascha Lüscher (5cc)

In our second round 3 feature match we bring you the clash of two titans of Switzerlands Magic scene. Sascha Lüscher is currently the third highest ranked player in Switzerlands composite ranking and he has 11 lifetime pro points. On the other side of the table is the man who has been a part of the Swiss Magic community for forever. Christian Fehr played on the Swiss National team before and he has 22 lifetime pro points.

In round 3 Blackborder feature writer and level 5 Pro Player Nico Bohny faces off against Olivier Duport who also has some Pro Tour experience with 6 lifetime pro points.

Alash: Again, Claws can be great in an aggressive deck but it just opens up the possibility of having effective mulligans in my hand when I drew a Makindi Shieldmate and some Tuk Tuk Grunts as my only creatures. People often consider the best possible situation when evaluting cards, eg "it turns a 1/1 into a monster and its hardly a 2 for 1 if they kill it as it was just a 1/1", but you also have to consider when the card is bad: in this case a lot of the time
@efrate: that might be the best pick, but I don't like having to put too much unnecessary strain on my manabase when I can avoid it. That one's mainly down to draft style, and I wouldn't criticise anybody for taking the 2-drop over Join the Ranks
