Hello everybody and welcome to the first episode of what I plan
to be a miniseries.
On Practice in Theory we will discuss a single card or strategy and its
mathematical interactions and base. This week, Cunning Sparkmage.
Facts About This Episode And Future Ones
- I'm
still working on a style, the main focus is the mechanic/mathematic
nature, however I'm not sure what facts to mention or how to persuade
people to trust in a strategy.
- I realize that a hypothetical card
is less preferable to a real strategy, I'll cover more formal mechanic
strategies in later episodes.
- The show needs to be under three minutes for me to effectively finish with time to do the show.
- I can only make an episode of Practice in Theory every other week or less due to time restrictions.
Questions
- What
do you think of the background? Should I use it for The Proffessors
instead and find a different one for Practice in Theory?
- What do
you think of the show's concept? This is a Spike/Melvin tuned show,
would you want to see a Timmy/Johnny/Vorthos show in the future?
- What do you think of the card entrance and lack of particles?

Spot on!
Wow, that was pretty in depth. I think these are a nice off shoot of The Professors, where as you stated going into this detail would be out of the question and the shows I imagine would go on forever. I also like the flow and graphic choices you've made for this new idea you've got. The Professors has really come up a lot since I first came to the site and it's production value I think is very much equal or even better than some of the high end MTG webcasts.
The one thing I really felt like this was missing was some music to play me out. I just felt like I was left hanging. :)
I look forward to seeing some more of these solid tid-bits of tech. You might even ask for suggestions from the members for some cards that they might like to see in future episodes. Good stuff Anthony. You and your fancy Mac. :D
Great one Anthony. Sure there's not much to talk about the sparkmage, but I like what you did there with so little to work.
On to the answers: In my opinion you should change the background if you want two different shows, as is, it looks like another episode from your show. I'm with xchadrickx there, some music and card suggestions would be a great addition.
Also I would like to see you talk in depth about some constructed viable ones, or ones that just dont have a home yet.
Keep it up. Nice work ;)
Great idea! Looking forward for further releases!
Johnny series would also be great!
I also agree with Alex_13 about discussing cards for constructed play also. With all the "Draft with the Pro" articles we have on the site already I think we have quite a flood of Limited discussion.
Where is Fire Whip?
I demand it!

Wow. Ask and ye' shall receive. LoL
sorry to still be so noobish, but, spike/melvin? I r confusored.
LoL. They refer to different style of players of MTG. My understanding of them is that Spike is kind of the smirky, hard assed guy that really brings it to his players. Timmy is more apt to play something like Naya with lots of fatties. Here's an article that covers the terms that are often used to refer to the different play styles.

Chad WINZ, according to that I is all three, not a Vorthos though, ^_^ Nothing I like better than winning with a card no one thinks is worth a crap.
