A few weeks ago, Patrick brought you his build of Mono Green Stompy, a cheap and competitive deck that can hold its own in Modern. Today, he updates the deck with Eldritch Moon and shares two promising variations of the archetype.
This deck contains what I believe to be, at least, some of the most destructive and possibly game-ending creatures: The Eldrazi. While they are immensely expensive to play, they can be very terrifying to encounter if played in the right way. To build this deck, I used my "Cloudscraper's Wrath" deck as a base, and added Eldrazi to it, while removing some of my former powerhouses. The final result, I hope, will be a successful (and very fun to play with) casual Green Eldrazi deck.
M.G.D or Mono Green Devotion is probably one of my favorite decks in the current standard format. Though this type of deck haven't really topped any recent tournaments, these types of decks have been dominating Friday Nights Magic all over. My version is running a very large amount of two drops; some to be more aggressive (i.e.
The same version of my last deck with a few small changes. First is the addition of 2xCourser of Kruphix; the life gain is quite needed is this deck because if you don't start getting things going soon, you usually lose a ton of life. The only other is 1xGarruk, Caller of Beasts; this card is so good, but for consistency sake, I can only run one.
A different take on the UrzaTron deck. Rather then GR or UW, I wanted to try a mono-green take, while trying out the new card Colossus of Akros. It has a lot of card draw within the artifacts of the deck, as well as being a semi-budget deck. I am in need of suggestion for the mana base however. Getting the Tron peices is fine, but it is slightly hard to keep it curving well. Let me know in the comments and thank you for your help!
My Mono-Green Devotion deck. This is a slight variation of Makihito Mihara deck from Pro Tour Theros. I took out the Red and the Planeswalkers as they are unneeded for my build. Plus it keeps color-screwing to a minimum. I have added a few creatures that have X in the casting or ability cost to dump the mana from Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. The only idea I am having is to add more Nykthos. The only reason there is one in here is because I have one and I need to see if that is enough.
